Download HP Printer Firmware Downgrade

Update January 2025:  We have disabled the links below and moved all downgrade files to a Google Drive Folder which can be accessed by clicking here.

If your ink cartridges suddenly stop working after initially working well, it may be due to a firmware update from the printer manufacturer. These updates occur automatically if your printer is connected to Wi-Fi or directly to your computer with an internet connection. The default printer setting is usually to allow these updates without requesting permission.

Since 2016, HP's firmware updates include dynamic security to limit the use of these cartridges. Dynamic security-enabled printers only work with cartridges that have brand-new or repurposed HP chips.

This firmware feature blocks cartridges with non-HP or modified chips, preventing the use of remanufactured or third-party ink cartridges.

Download the appropriate firmware downgrade for your HP OfficeJet printer so you can continue to print using Cartridge World compatible ink cartridges.

Reverting the firmware and downgrading to a previous version may allow your HP printer to work with the previous firmware version before the update occurred. Once you revert to a previous version you can continue to print using your compatible ink cartridges.
