How To Print... Your Questions Answered
Posted by Cartridge World on 26th Sep 2022
We receive a lot of questions from our customers regarding the cost of printing, how they can pay less for more and so on. We also get a lot of questions about the environmental impact of printing. Everyone wants to get the most out of their printer without having to pay the Earth (literally) in return.
However, it isn’t just on the consumables and hardware side of printing that we get questions. We also get asked about how to perform certain tasks and print out certain types of document on a printer. Of course, we’re more than happy to oblige.
Most of these tasks are relatively simple and involve tweaking a setting here or there, or setting out your document in a certain way. In this document, we’ve collated some common printing questions and provided the solution.
How To Do I Print Two Pages On A Single Sheet?
A nice and simple print task to start off with, commonly employed to save on paper or to condense a weighty word doc down for handout purposes. Again, this is a really easy task to carry out; you just need to know what you’re looking for.
First, click the ‘office’ button in the top left hand side of whatever program you happen to be using (this is the ‘file’ option in earlier versions of Microsoft Office programs). Click on print. When on the print settings screen, navigate to ‘zoom’ and select an option from the dropdown menu...and you’re done! It really is that simple!
Do bear in mind, however, that the more pages you try to fit on a single sheet, the harder those pages are going to be to read. The maximum we would recommend is 4 pages on a single sheet.
How Can I Print A Single Email?
Ever tried to print off an email and ended up getting every message in a thread, complete with elaborate signatures and the dreaded ‘wall of text disclaimer’? Frustrating, isn’t it?
Luckily, there is a simple way to print a single email directly from your inbox (rather than having to copy, paste and reformat).
In Gmail, open up a message thread. If you press print now, you’ll get the full thread. However, there is a way of printing just the one message. Simply go to the reply button at the top of your selected email and navigate to the drop down menu on the right. Select ‘Print’, alter your setting to your liking and that’s it!
In Outlook, it’s even easier; simply hit the print button on an email. Unfortunately, there’s no way of printing multiple messages in Outlook, so you might need to repeat this process for a whole thread.
How To Print A Screenshot From A Phone
Some phones will have a dedicated print screen app, but if you happen to own an iPhone or Android phone you won’t need one. Capturing a screenshot from one of these devices is easy. For an iPhone (or iPad), you simply need to hold the home screen button and press the sleep button. This is more or less the same for Android phones, except you will need to press the home and ‘sleep’ buttons at the same time.
Once you’ve done this, your captured image should appear in your phone’s gallery. Find it and select the print option. You then have a couple of choices; you can either hook your phone up to a printer directly or send it via the ‘cloud’ (using AirPrint or Google CloudPrint). Both of these services are relatively simple to set up and you can find out more about both by checking out our previous blog post on mobile printing.
Hopefully this post has answered some of your burning printing questions – keep an eye out for future posts covering some more print task-related queries. If you happen to need more ink cartridges to carry out some of these tasks, check the Cartridge World site or pop down to your local store for a cheaper alternative to branded cartridges.
